With flatpaks, snaps, and more - do we even still need distributions? What makes a distribution and how can package maintainers reconcile the fact that they have learned the hard ways of packaging for their distribution with the ease of use of distribution-agnostic packages?
This talk covers distribution-agnostic "apps", whether they are a good idea, why there is often such a backlash against them, and who benefits the most from them.
